John Elphinstone Stirling
Well I can only imagine that the pressure of trying to pick a worthwhile photographer to come hang out with you guys ALL day is now starting to mount. Handing someone that level of trust is a big deal and there can be a crazy amount of us around to check out.
You also want to make sure that you have a pretty good idea that the person turning up isn’t a maniac. That their work is beautiful, consistent and truly speaks to you both as a couple. That they’re cool, calm, likeable and have 100% confidence in their shooting ability but perhaps most importantly that you can stand to be around them.
If you think there’s even the smallest chance that on the day they could be a real pain in the ass then don’t ask them along!
You don’t want this nervous nightmare “photographer” pulling up, pushing over Grandparents, tripping up the kids, eating all your canapés, trying to put your Dad in a headlock and shouting at you all to “pose better!”. Nope, that guy would suck and if he does exist then I hate him.
Well I’m not that guy.
I’m the other guy.
WILL YOUR STYLE OF PHOTOGRAPHY TRANSLATE TO OUR TYPE OF WEDDING?
Sure will! I really don’t have a particular “look” of wedding that I like to shoot year round and generally I tend to photograph a huge variation of venues and locations.
I’ve shot brides canoeing into their ceremonies, barn weddings, beach weddings, church & cathedral weddings, Orkney weddings, boho byre weddings, loch side weddings, theatre weddings, English countryside weddings, forest weddings, hotel weddings, Spanish weddings, town hall weddings, candle lit cave weddings, tipi weddings, stupidly hot Dubai weddings, brewery weddings, castle weddings, marquee weddings, sleek city weddings, garden weddings and farm weddings. Phew.
Yeah, I’ve shot a crazy amount of different situations and in a crazy amount of different environments but that’s part of the fun right? No wedding is or should be the same and that’s a good thing guys.
Your wedding should be ‘YOU’ and ‘YOU’ alone so don’t let anyone tell you any different!
By Rhea
Hey! I’m Rhea, a Scottish wedding photographer. I’m wife to Ryan (so I’ve done the wedding thing myself) and we live in Aberdeenshire with our Welsh Terrier, Arthur. A born and bred North East country girl (or “quine” as we would say up here) and I’m a romantic at heart.
Your wedding can be a fitting reflection of your own unique love, not just a carbon copy of weddings that have come before. I love to help that happen, whether it’s by providing inspiration in the run-up, or by bringing calm and assurance (and mucking in) on the day.
I’m there to photograph, of course, but I’m here for you in the planning too. I love to help my couples build their big day to include the details that matter – whether it’s a niche wedding band, or an idyllic coastal spot for a once-in-a-lifetime shot.
When it comes to my personal life, adventuring is in my blood. I’m happiest in our campervan Bella, or going for coffee and walks in the hills and on the beach. I’m so excited to join your team and help make your wedding plans a reality; they say that love is the greatest adventure, and I couldn’t agree more.
I’m your extra wedding guest with a fancy camera, ready to join in the good times, the giggles and the adventures.
Fit like? The Name’s Rhea, the intrepid wedding photographer.
That’s “hello, how are you?” in my native Doric – I’m North-East born and bred. I’m a sucker for the wild, rugged beauty of Scotland and rural wedding photography puts me in my element. But I like to think of myself as much more than another Scottish wedding photographer. I’m your bonus bridesmaid, your extra pair of hands, your biggest cheerleader, and your eagle eye for detail – all wrapped up in a cute waistcoat and ear-to-ear grin.
Let’s plan your dream day, from afore to aifter and a’thing inbetween. The first step is getting in touch with some initial details about yourself and your plans. Then, we can hop on a video call or grab coffee together to get better acquainted, and we can figure out if it’s a match. From there, I’ll share a booking form, contract and invoice for the £500 booking fee to secure your spot.
Then it’s really up to you – keep it simple, or go all in with a pre-wedding photoshoot. Make sure to stay in touch with all your plans – just shout if you have any questions – and we can rendezvous closer to the big day to plan the essential shots, which might mean a quick time-out with your nearest and dearest, as well a wee adventure for the three of us to create some magic.
After the wedding, I’ll share a sneak peek of your shots, before sending a full gallery around 4-8 weeks later. And then, when the confetti has settled, there’s still an (optional) wedding album to look forward to. You can drop by my place to see what’s on offer, and we can create a tactile memento that you’ll want to sit on your coffee table and foist on every unsuspecting visitor for the rest of time.

Not only will I take care of your website marketing. I’m on hand to help answer and guide you through any marketing questions.
